One of our local schools, the Bikone Primary School, has a unique history.

It’s first location next to the valleys River with a beautiful view over the surrounding landscape was its disaster. During the flooding of 1st of july 2020, a huge part of the school structure got washed away. It only lasted two out of ten classrooms of the school. Other parts of the buildings such as the teachers office or school materials got destroyed and washed away.
The old school building could not be used anymore, that’s why the whole school needed to be moved to new buildings. Luckily the church could donate a new school building some kilometres away, so that the school routine could be saved for the children.

But the current situation is still inappropriate for the learners, because there are too few classrooms. All classes are needed to share one classroom for two classes at the same time. These shared classrooms are only poorly divided by a tarp and are absolutely too small and to hot to host this amount of children.
As well as new classrooms, a staff room or house needs to be built to give the teachers a better workplace.
That’s why new classrooms and the new staff room are very much needed to give all affected learners the opportunity for better education and school experience.
