During the time of covid pandemic I became a mother to a doughter. I did not want to drop out the school as I like to study. Thanks to my sponsor I could continue to graduate at secondary school. I want to be a nurse and open a small clinics in Ruboni village.

How to sponsor a child?

The Child Sponsorship Project has a policy that guides the selection and enrolment of the beneficiaries. Upon acquisition of a new sponsor, the beneficiary of the sponsorship is selected from the list of applicants by the committee or chosen by the sponsor. The details of the beneficiary (name, sex, photos, bio) are shared with the sponsor.

How will you know how the child is doing?

Every term, a report is made by the child sponsorship coordinator and shared with the sponsors. Upon that, the child writes a personal letter to their sponsor after each term. Sponsors are encouraged to communicate by letters as well. Emails are printed and shared with children to read.

“I have a chance to study at private secondary school in Bushenyi. That gives me an opportunity to recieve a good education, learn more languages and qualify for university. My dream is to become a surgeon. I think our region needs one.”

How old are children in the project?

Children are being sponsored at all levels of education, from primary level (age 6-13), secondary level (between 13- 19) up to colleges or universities. We encourage sponsors to be supporting the child till the end of the studied level to enable the completing the school.

How much it costs?

Each term is equivalent to three months. This support is provided termly, three times a year. The amount paid every term depends on the school the child is going to. The costs include school uniform, notebooks and daily lunches. To give an idea, the school fees per child per year are as follows;

  • Primary school- 70 -130$.
  • Secondary school 100 – 170$
  • College – 200- 350$
  • University – from 350$

I really enjoy our practices of music and dance after school. I like to dance our cultural dance and want to perform for visitors to help our community. I want to be a music teacher.”
